23/1/09: Demo Day 2009 Report

Sunday saw our second annual Demo Day. Once again the weather held for us, lots of bikes were ridden, and everyone had great fun.

With the sun rising over a chilly and sleepy Holmbury St Mary, the wagons rolled into the WI Hall car park, we plugged in the tea urn, got the bikes set up, and just as we finished the last-minute spannering the first of our fifty morning riders arrived.

By 10am the car park was swarming with eager mountain bikers, ready to test out the latest bikes from Trek, Commencal, Gary Fisher, Nicolai, Dialled and Singular. Rich and Glen from All Biked Up led out the guided ride, and everyone set off for two hours on Holmbury Hill - just enough time to make platefuls of cheese sandwiches and top up the urn.

After a lunch break to rest legs and refuel, fifty more bikes set off in the afternoon for another two hours in glorious sunshine on the hills, rolling back to base camp with the sun dropping, the chill returning, weary legs and big smiles all round.
